Going into hibernation...

Hey flagging fans... it's that time of the year again!

Every October we close the KinkyCraft etsy store for a few months so that I can focus on prep for our biggest event of the year, IMsL (April 14-17, 2016), and catch up on other things, hang with my family, enjoy the best season of the year... you get the idea.

2015 was a year of huge growth for us as a little "labor of love" business. We did more pop-up shops than ever before - including at the premiere of Hanky Code, The Movie! We even travelled to Oklahoma, Dallas, and San Diego to share our passion for flagging.

You can look forward to some exciting product developments when we re-open the etsy store in the spring. BUT - in the mean time, you have until October 15th to get your orders in.

As of October 15th I will not take any more orders until Spring. So, get your holiday shopping in now!

Call for flagging photos!

I'm putting the finishing touches on my upcoming workshop for Women's International Leather Legacy event weekend, "Flagging history and the Hanky Code", which is now only days away!!
The visual component of my workshop includes a slideshow and I thought it would be fun to put a call-out for flagging images to include! It would be so fun to include your smiling faces... or other body parts!

Do you have a favorite picture of yourself flagging that I can use? It doesn't even have to be flagging with the hanky code - it can be any kind of flagging (keys, wallet chain, cuff, nailpolish, etc.).

Either email it to kinkycraft at gmail.com or post it on the KinkyCraft facebook page and tag it with ‪#‎flagginghistory‬. Thanks for your help!

Hanky Code: The Movie premieres in SF!

Jesbian showing off some of our wares!
We have been anxiously awaiting this film for months!  As a fan of flagging in general and the hanky code in particular, I was thrilled to hear about this project by Gentry McShane and the folks at Periwinkle Cinema!

Here is the description from the Film's facebook event:
Before Internet dating and hookup apps, The Handkerchief code was largely used by gay men in the 1970’s to distinguish sexual preferences and fetishes in gay clubs and on the streets of places like San Francisco and New York. In Hanky Code: The Movie, Periwinkle Cinema, San Francisco’s queer experimental film collective brings Queer and Trans* filmmakers across a spectrum of genres, styles, genders, and locations to dissect the code in this epic anthology feature comprised of 25 short films! Each filmmaker or filmmaking team tells a story of a different color/fetish of the code. Films range from narrative to experimental to erotic and animated, with many films redefining the traditional code with colors, patterns, and fetishes up to creative interpretation of the artist.

Films Include:
Credit sequence by Lisa Ganser
Black - Flagging Black by Ivy Dykes
Grey- Grey Is For Bondage by Lorin Murphy

Kleenex by Kico Le Strange
Houndstooth- Mouth Wide Open by Siobhan Aluvalot
Indigenous Luvvv by Demian DinéYazhi

Overall, the film was quite a treat, though my personal favorites were probably White Fur, Fur and Apricot 4 Apricot, which Courtney Trouble has made available for viewing as a stand-alone short clip.

KinkyCraft was there to support the film's opening with a modest pop-up shop - where we also debuted the new "femmecock" embroidered hanky design!

If you missed the premiere screening, you have another chance at the encore screening July 15th!  The filmmakers are also looking for future venues to screen the film in Oakland, too!

Check out the trailer here.

IMsL 2015

Our adorable helper at the KinkyCraft booth!
Well, we survived another IMsL!

This year was a rough one after the original person we had scheduled to work the booth all weekend had to cancel at the last minute; but the family pulled together and made it work!

Thanks to dear friends, our sweet booth-mate Kinky Knits, and most of all to my lovely wife who stepped up and spent most of her weekend staffing the booth so I could fulfill my other IMsL Staff duties (I'm the Staff Photographer and Photo Team Lead).

One notably fun part of IMsL was debuting our "switching" embroidered hankies!  This one said "Fist ME" on one corner (wear it showing our of your right pocket) and "Fist YOU" on the opposite corner (place that one showing out your left pocket).  What would color would your switching hanky be and what would it say?  Send us your ideas!

See you next IMsL!  April 14-17th, 2016
